Check pink slip status Cyprus searches mostly end in disappointment, and it is worth saying why rather than sending you round in circles: we have found no public online status checker published by the Migration Department. The ways that do work are offline.
Check pink slip status Cyprus: what actually works
Ask the office where the file was submitted, quoting your Aliens Register number and the application reference. For most visitor permit applications that is a district office; for the investor and Category F routes it is the Migration Department in Nicosia, because those are filed there in person or by a representative.
If an agent or lawyer filed for you, they are the faster route, because they hold the submission receipt and can ask on your behalf without you taking a morning off.
When it is actually worth asking
The Department's own figure for a visitor permit is that it is usually decided within four months. Before that point there is normally nothing to report, and the file has not been looked at. The first permit is issued for one year and is renewable after that.
Compare that with the routes that are quicker by design: an EU registration certificate is targeted at one month, a foreign-interest-company permit at one month, a digital nomad permit at five to seven weeks, and the expedited investor permanent residence procedure at about two months.
The sites we will not point you at
Several third-party services claim to check Cyprus permit status for you. We have not verified any of them, and none is operated by the Migration Department as far as we can tell. Putting a passport number and an Aliens Register number into an unverified form to save a phone call is a bad trade. If an official checker exists and we have missed it, we will link it here and say so.
What usually causes the wait
In our experience it is rarely the Department being slow in the abstract. It is a file that came back for a missing apostille, a translation that was not done by a certified translator, or income evidence that does not match the form of income claimed. Those are returned quietly and the clock effectively restarts.
So the useful question is not where the file is, but whether it was complete when it went in. The Migration Department's visitors page lists what the route requires, and checking your own copy against it answers more than a status enquiry will.
Common questions
- Is there an online pink slip status checker in Cyprus?
- We have not found one published by the Migration Department. Third-party sites claiming to offer it are unverified and we would not put personal data into them.
- How long before I should chase it?
- The Migration Department says a visitor permit is usually decided within four months. Chasing before that rarely produces anything.
- What do I need to quote when I ask?
- Your Aliens Register number and the application reference, at the office where the file was submitted.
If your permit or visa-free year ends soon, the dates matter
Renewals and changes of permit type have to be filed before your current status ends. We can check your dates with you and tell you what still fits.
